About us

Chromalakes offers natural, vegan, eco-friendly skin and hair care products. We created a variety of handmade soaps that will clean, nourish, and satisfy your hair and skin needs. For packaging, our goal is “as few plastic as possible”. Biodegradable plastic alternatives are used to ship and package products if necessary. We oppose all animal cruelty, and use natural vegan ingredients in all of our products.

The inspiration to create a good solid shampoo occurred to me in the summer of 2018. I had noticed that my hair was looking thin, dry, and unhealthy. On that morning, I became distressed staring at my hair in the mirror.  For the first time, I studied the labels on the bottle of liquid shampoo I was using,  and I saw sulfates and surfactants in the middle of a long list. I chucked the bottle. It was a good-looking plastic bottle. It ended in the trash. I did not feel good about it. During the following days, I began to formulate a “magic” product - one that would be kind to my hair, and would not require a good-looking plastic bottle that eventually ends in the waste. After countless hours spent in the basement, I made a solid shampoo. It felt gentle on my hair. It was bubbly, creamy, and beautiful. Most importantly, my hair felt better and looked better. Beginning with that bar, I never went back to liquid shampoo in plastic bottles, and I feel great about it. Our 3-in-1 soap were labeled in the summer of 2019. Since that time, we have been modifying and improving the original recipe, which seems to be a continuous journey. However, no matter where we are on this journey, we will always focus on our mission: to create products that are kind to hair, body, and environment.

Thank you for joining the Chromalakes community! We hope that our natural vegan 3-in-1 soap will help improve the health of your hair and skin, simplify your life, and bring you comfort and peace of mind.
